All-Hazards and Risks Assessments

Challenge

Defence Research Development Canada’s Centre for Security Science required an analysis of risk models and frameworks to produce an All-Hazards and Risks Framework.

Engagement

This initiative incorporated expertise from a wide range of federal government institutions and applied an All-Hazards approach. The All-Hazards and Risks Framework is a comprehensive and integrated solution for assessing the impact and likelihood of both malicious and non-malicious hazards and threats that Canada could face over a five year period. By assessing the risks associated with all hazards in an integrated way, efforts may be broadly effective in reducing the vulnerability of people, property, the environment and the economy.

ONPAR assisted the Government of Canada by way of assembling teams of experts and documentation related to resilience practices to support business continuity planning at the community level.

Impact

Set the groundwork for interoperable business continuity planning for various regions to improve disaster relief and community resilience.
